Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi graduated as a ceramist in Then suddenly she was asked to design some fabrics and patterns for Marimekko. When Vuokko started to design the fabrics and patters they changed to new styles of silhouettes. Vuokko created a new artistic style and designed her fabrics and clothes with bold line, bright colors, poppers and zippers, she removed all that was constricting and not necessary, to liberate women to move freely. The clothes were designed to be comfortable and sustainable. After leaving Marimekko she started her own company Vuokko where she devoleped her artistic style that she had begun at Marimekko by simplyfying the colors and patters.
Vuokko's designes like the Jokapoika-shirt that is made from her Piccolo-pattern and Iloinen dress are still sold at Marimekko more that 60 years after being designed. Here at Vuokko all the clothes and patterns are designed by Vuokko in her own unique artistic style.

Vuokko Nurmesniemi
Vuokko Hillevi Lilian Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, född Eskolin12 februari i Helsingfors, är en finsk textildesigner. Hon är mest känd som en av de ledande formgivarna på Marimekko med bland annat mönstret Piccolo till skjortan Jokapoika. Nurmesniemi utbildade sig först till keramiker men började på Marimekko och formgav en rad mönster tillsammans med Maija Isola. Hon var verksam där fram till då hon lämnade bolaget och startade egen verksamhet under varumärket Vuokko.[6] Hennes textilier och kläder i Vuokko kännetecknas av en stram design och ett sparsmakat färgval samt naturmaterial. tilldelades hon Lunningpriset och mottog hon Prins Eugen-medaljen. Hon var gift med Antti Nurmesniemi till hans död
Nurmesniemi finns representerad vid Nationalmuseum i Stockholm.[7]
