The Battle For Life

Sanjay Gupta gets the script right this time but fails to execute properly. The entire movie runs on one man show and that is Sanjay Dutt single handedly saves the film from start to end.
First half was very good with complex storyline of a family who desperately needs to save his kid but the mess was made in the 2nd half where story suddenly shifted to gangstar drama from nowhere.
Screenplay is good but at some moments totally mid in 2nd half with unnecessary songs and too much stretched.
Character Performances are the only highlights of the film specially Sanjay, Shilpa, Aditya & Jackie superb performance by all of them.
One song is superb in the film rest of the music is just mess.

Sanjay Dutt' s character Bali was supposed to have the song "Kadi Te Aana Bali Di Gali" picturized on him. After Sanjay Dutt left the film midway, the producer decided to get pop star Bali Brahmbhatt to help him out. The song was picturized on Bali to make sense of the lyrics "Kadi Te Aana Bali Di Gali".
Sanjay Gupta had a tiff with the producers during the making of the film, hence the former disassociated himself with the film and his name was not in the credits. His friend Sanjay Dutt sided with him and refused to dub for the film. His voice was dubbed by someone else.
The film was launched with the title " Khaleefe" in It starred Sanjay Dutt, Tabu, Saif Ali Khan , Mamta Kulkarni and Sharad Kapoor. They all opted out of the film except Sanjay Dutt. The subject was then changed.
Jackie Shroff, Aditya Pancholi, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty replaced Saif Ali Khan, Sharad Kapoor, Mamta Kulkarni and Tabu respectively.
